Summer Camp Information
Wesley Chapel MMA is partnering with Strive Athletic Club to offer your child the ultimate martial arts and fitness summer camp. Our self-defense includes Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, wrestling and boxing. The fitness portion of our summer camp includes cardiovascular training, strength training, speed & agility and outdoor obstacle course. The camp will also incorporate games that are designed to improve reflexes, balance, strength and endurance. Your child stays active and most importantly has fun! We provide a safe, fun, educational environment for your child to learn self-defense, fitness training, build confidence and make new friends.
Campers will be broken into groups based on age. Group 1 will be ages 6 to 9 and group 2 ages 10 to 13. The groups will rotate between fitness and martial arts throughout the day.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a self-defense that uses grappling and submission techniques to subdue and stop an aggressive attacker. Most other martial arts focus what to while standing up and this is important, because most altercations start stand up, but almost all of them end up on the ground and that's what Jiu-Jitsu specializes in. Your child will learnsituational self-defense, take downs and ground submissions.
Muay Thai Kickboxing
Muay Thai is a stand up self-defense that combines strikes with hands, elbows, knees and feet. There's a reason why it is commonly referred to as "theart of eight limbs". Your child will learn a variety of combinations to help defend themselves in real life situations.
Boxing
Your child will also learn the fundamentals of classic boxing. They will learn how to throw a jab, cross, upper cut, hook and the mechanics of how to throw the punch correctly. They will also learn head movement and basic footwork.
Wrestling
There's a reason wrestling has been around for thousands of years, it works. Your child will learn fundamental wrestling techniques including take downs and throws that will be combined with Jiu-Jitsu submissions. If you have a child that wants to wrestle in high school, this is a great place start learning.
Cardiovascular Training
Your child will improve their strength, endurance and conditioning with high intensity interval cross training. This type of training combines bursts of all out exercise and moments of rest or less intense exercise to increase fat metabolism in the body.
Strength Conditioning
Strive will put together a strength and conditioning workout program that's age appropriate for your child. Depending on your child's age this may include isometrics, machine and/or free weight lifting. Instructors will teach and emphasize proper technique when strength conditioning to avoid injuries and maximize strength gains.
Speed & Agility
Camper will participate in drills to improve speed, agility and coordination. Improving speed and agility will help them with self-defense, but also with any other sports your child participates in.
Movies
We like to keep them active, but kids need downtime too. Every day we play a PG-13 movie for the kids to watch and enjoy.
Ages & Number of Campers
Sorry adults, we know that camp is awesome and you want to join, but our camp is designed for ages 6 to 13.
Each group will be limited to 30 kids per group.
Food & Water
We will be offering healthy box lunch for a fee or your child can bring a lunch and/or snack for your child.
Staff & Instructors
Our staff is hand-picked, experienced and enjoys being around kids. Our staff strives to make sure every child has a great experience and a lot of fun during their time at our summer camp. Each instructor is experienced and specializes whatever they are teaching.
